Coronary Function Testing
Dr. Fahed leads a Coronary Function Testing Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital, dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of patients with angina, ischemia, or myocardial infarction AND non-obstructive coronary artery disease (ANOCA, INOCA, MINOCA), and member of multiple national initiatives such as Microvascular Network, HARP study, and others.
Invasive evaluation typically consists of a functional coronary angiogram that includes coronary thermodilution and measurement of multiple indices of epicardial and microvascular disease, and coronary reactivity testing for coronary vasospasm and endothelial dysfunction.
For indicated patients, intravascular imaging with intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) or optical coherence tomography (OCT) is used to better characterize underlying non-atherosclerotic coronary disease such as myocardial bridge, spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), or cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV).
